I knew that Wizard magazine would not fail me. According to the latest issue, Iron Man is the greatest comic book movie of all time and not The Dark Knight, Ha! I told everyone the same thing but all you bat teet sucklers didn't believe me. I know this is one magazine's opinion but I'm sorry, Iron Man was in fact a better movie. Robert Downey Jr. nailed that role while Christian Bale could never live up to Micheal Keaton or Kevin Conroy (or Heath Ledger or Aaron Eckhart for that matter).
Also if you remember a few issues back, they also named the greatest 200 characters of all time(not having to do with the movies, but rather the actual source material) and Batman was also number 2, coming in just behind Wolver-fucking-ine! I love it.
And on that note, the world is not spinning quite out of control as I thought...

Ugh, another Wolverine fanboy...(j/k).
I know you detest Batman and all, but I think Christian Bale did a pretty good job. Batman as a character just doesn't have a lot to offer in the way of acting, this is especially noticeable when placed side by side in a movie with much more colorful characters like the Joker (not to take away from Heath Ledger's performance as it was one of the best villain portrayals ever). When you look at Batman as a character he's just not as interesting to watch, or listen to, he just broods and fights.
Iron man was a better movie. Robert Downey Jr. was the perfect pick, completely fits the character. And even when not Iron Man, Tony Stark is just a more interesting character to follow. There's personality without losing a sense of meaning.
On a side note; Michael Keaton bothers me, he won't stop moving his eyebrows...
I actually thoroughly enjoyed this movie thanks to everyone except bruce wayne/batman. I think with Michael Keaton he just portrayed bruce wayne with more depth. And I just love Robert Downey Jr. and Tony Stark. I think if batman had more of a story and they didn't make Harvey Dent the true hero story than it would make more sense, call me old-fashioned I just don't like it when title characters are the least interesting parts of the story. Every other character should serve as a puzzle peace to the main character's arc and in the dark knight that just didn't happen.
I think the problem with Christian Bale is that he plays a man that is too tunnel-visioned on this path. I feel like he's forcing himself to be batman. Keaton managed to show a man that was so conflicted with his identity that he wasn't actually bruce wayne putting on a bat mask but rather, his true self is the batman putting on the human mask, and that's just so much more interesting.
And let's not forget about that nasty case of throat cancer the new batman seems to have. That musta been an acting technique that Keaton missed out on...
I will give you that, I find the raspy batman voice quite annoying, especially given he continues to use it even around people who know his identity. I'd also agree that it was much more a movie about Harvey Dent and the Joker with Batman being a heavy supporting character.
In the end though I think the direction of the movie called for it. The theme constantly forced the story to focus on corruptible characters like Harvey Dent and people in general; and the Joker's fascination (obsession) with someone who wouldn't compromise their values. So I have a hard time blaming Bale for that.
Sorry you guys Batman was the better movie. iron man was tight do not get me wrong but a for a story to be illustrated brilliantly the protagonist and antagonist must both be great and of the two flicks the joker and batman gave greater performances then iron man vs.... oh i dont even really remember who the guy was ....he was just in a huge iron suit.
When I think of Iron man as a movie it was tight because of Downy Jr.and the special effects. The conflict was there but it was not a conflict that you think Iron Man may not be able to overcome. In the Dark Knight you feel that Bruce Waynes conflict may be greater then he can overcome. However I am no fool i realize that i love Dark Knight because of how epic it feels, after all I love reading the old epics and modern ones as well. Iron Man to me just did not feel as epic but that is not a bad thing, Not every movie can be epic and grand as Dark knight, its just that those movies get the most points from me.
regardless I will still be seeing Iron Man II on opening weekend...I just had to put my two cents in.
Ken aka Hiro Protagonist
I am going to have to agree that Iron man was a better movie...
though the characters have much in common
both Iron man and Batman have no actual super-powers, they instead have massive bank accounts, abdominal hugging outfits and toys that would make most real military weaponry look like a joke. This, in fact makes them (as far as 'super-heroeness' goes) equally matched.
I did however think it was a bit of a lame cop-out when iron man's initial enemies seemed to be Arab terrorists (I think we have all had enough of that incredibly played out enemy)yet,Bale's raspy batman voice happened to annoy me more than Iron man's highly predictable opposition.
